Make 3D games and characters (full guide)
Step by step with real blocks: create a 3D character, animate it, build a simple 3D game and discover professional tools.
1. Create a 3D character
Three ways to get a 3D character, all via the 3D button (Costumes tab) or the 3D Characters category:
- Generator (easiest): pick a type (person, robot, zombie, skeleton, alien, knight, animals) and the colors, hair, hat and accessory. It comes with ready animations (idle, walk, run, jump, wave, attack, dance, die).
- Import a file: GLB/GLTF/VRM, FBX (with Mixamo animations), OBJ, STL, VOX, DAE, PLY, 3DS, MD2, 3MF — loose or in a .zip with the textures.
- Make it in an external tool (see the list below) and import.
The sprite becomes a 3D character (shown with the 3D badge). The costumes are its 2D view (on the stage and in 2D games); in the 3D World it shows as the real 3D model.
2. Animate the character
With the 3D Characters extension (free) you play animations on the 2D stage:
• evt_bandeira • p3d_animar [CLIPE: acenar, FPS: 8]
For a game with movement, use the automatic animation (idle when still, walk when moving):
• evt_bandeira • p3d_auto [PARADO: parado, ANDANDO: andar] • evt_tecla [TECLA: seta para direita] • mov_mudar_x [DX: 10]
- Generator characters already have animations.
- For an imported file without animation, download animations from Mixamo (FBX) and add them with "Add animations" — the file name becomes the animation name.
3. Build a simple 3D game
The idea: a Menu (2D) backdrop with a Play button, and a 3D backdrop (island, arena, maze…) where the game happens. Clicking the button switches backdrop — and clicking a sprite already starts the game, no green flag needed.
• evt_clicado • apa_cenario [CENARIO: Fase1] • apa_esconder
On your character, start the game when the 3D backdrop comes in:
• evt_cenario_muda [CENARIO: Fase1] • m3d_camera [MODO: terceira] • m3d_jog_aparencia • m3d_controles [MODO: sim]
A collectible (gem) that appears near the player and vanishes on touch:
• ctl_quando_clone
• m3d_corpo [FORMA: esfera, COR: #6CE0E0, TAM: 45]
• m3d_corpo_perto [DIST: 8]
• ctl_sempre
• m3d_corpo_girar [GRAUS: 7]
• ctl_se [COND: (m3d_corpo_estado)]
• var_adicionar [VALOR: 1, VAR: pontos]
• ctl_apagar_clone4. Ready examples to study
- 3D Hero Adventure — a full game with a file character, menu and 3D island. Open
- 3D Race — 3 laps against 3 autopilot cars, chase camera. Open · Mountain Motocross — ride the bike up the trail to the flag. Open
4b. A camera for each kind of game
The camera: block has a mode for each game style:
- first person — exploring, shooter, Craft (mouse looks, WASD walks)
- third person — adventure, parkour (mouse turns the camera behind the player)
- chase (racing) — car, bike, ship (camera behind, smoothly follows the turns)
- top-down — maze, tag, toy car (arrows move along the screen)
- side (2.5D platformer) — platformer, side-view motocross (A/D walk, W or Space jump)
- isometric (strategy) — strategy, farm, RPG (arrows move along the screen diagonal)
- fixed — scenes, menus, security camera (you choose where it stays)
camera distance % zooms in or out (chase, top-down, side and isometric).
Vehicles: "player drive: race car / dirt bike" turns the player into a vehicle: W speeds up, S brakes and reverses, A/D steer, and it climbs 1-block steps by itself. "player speed" shows the speed and "when the player's vehicle crashes" tells you about crashes.
• evt_bandeira • m3d_camera [MODO: perseguicao] • m3d_jog_veiculo [VEIC: carro, COR: #3B6FD8] • m3d_controles [MODO: sim]
Autopilot rivals: "drive to x z at speed" turns little by little towards the point (like a steering wheel) and moves. Switch to the next point when "my distance to x z" gets small.
• evt_bandeira • m3d_corpo [FORMA: carro, COR: #D83A3A, TAM: 100] • m3d_corpo_fisica [MODO: sim] • ctl_sempre • m3d_corpo_dirigir [X: 80, Z: 20, VEL: 12]
- 3D coin hunt (easy). Open · 3D parkour (medium). Open · 3D Dungeon: retro shooter (hard). Open · Craft 3D (Minecraft style). Open
5. Tools and sites (models and animations)
- TinkerKids 3D Studio (our tool for kids to create 3D characters): tinkerkids.web.app
- Free animated models inside the 3D Characters editor: from the official Khronos glTF sample collection (github.com/KhronosGroup/glTF-Sample-Assets), only with free licenses (CC0/CC BY — credit the authors).
- Blender (modeling/animation, free): blender.org · Mixamo (ready FBX animations, free): mixamo.com
- MagicaVoxel (voxel .vox characters): ephtracy.github.io · VRoid Studio (.vrm avatars): vroid.com
- Free models: Sketchfab sketchfab.com · Poly Pizza poly.pizza · Quaternius quaternius.com · Kenney kenney.nl
- By AI (text → 3D): Meshy meshy.ai · PixelLab pixellab.ai
Tip: to keep the game light in the browser, prefer models with few triangles and small textures (256–512 px). The converter already reduces them, but starting small helps.
